About Joshua Gruitt
Josh Gruitt comes from a deeply technical background, with more than a decade of professional programming experience focused heavily on the ArchViz industry. As one of the co-founders and Head of Development at SiNi Software, Josh has spent years building production tools and workflow systems used by artists and studios across architectural visualisation. Alongside this, he also works as Technical Director at The Boundary, giving him a strong understanding of both software development and the practical realities of production environments.
For Josh, AI-assisted coding is primarily about speed and efficiency — particularly when dealing with repetitive or time-consuming tasks such as UI setup, boilerplate systems, or project scaffolding. Unlike many newer vibe coders, his approach is grounded in a strong understanding of programming fundamentals and the languages he works in. He believes this knowledge is critical because AI is most effective when the user can properly interpret, debug, and guide the generated code. While he sees AI as extremely useful for solving smaller problems and accelerating development, he is also clear that it still has limitations and cannot reliably handle everything on its own.
Advice
His advice to others focuses heavily on preparation and structure. Josh recommends building condensed markdown reference files that clearly explain coding styles, workflows, systems, and project expectations before working with AI coding assistants. In his experience, giving AI strong contextual information dramatically improves both efficiency and output quality, while also reducing wasted tokens and misunderstandings. Ultimately, he sees AI as a highly capable assistant for experienced developers and creatives alike, but one that still benefits greatly from human oversight and technical understanding.
