Technical Requirements

Description

Spline Length Refiner adjusts spline length using start, end, or total-length controls.

Use it to extend spline paths cleanly while preserving a predictable direction and output shape.

Licence Requirements

This tool requires an active SiNi user account and a valid licence.

Supported Licences

• All Access Subscription
• IgNite Subscription
• Forensic (Free) Licence

The script will not function unless you are logged into the SiNi Desipher Licence Manager within 3ds Max.

If a valid licence cannot be found, functionality will be disabled until a licence is activated.

Activating Your Licence

1. Create a SiNi account at SiNiSoftware.com.
2. Download the latest SiNi installer.
3. Install SiNi into your version of 3ds Max.
4. This installs the SiNi Desipher Licence Manager.
5. Launch 3ds Max.
6. Open the Desipher Licence Manager.
7. Sign in using your SiNi account credentials.
8. Once your licence has been validated, the script will become available for use.

Installing the MacroScript Version

1. Extract the ZIP file.
2. There are three options to install MacroScript .MZP files.
   – Drag and Drop the MacroScript .MZP file into a 3ds Max viewport.
   – Run the Script from the Command Panel; Utilities/MAXScript/Run Script.
3. Open Customise → Customise User Interface.
4. Select the Sinilab_Scripts category.
5. Drag the tool onto a toolbar, quad menu or menu.

Rollout Reference

Refines spline lengths using start, end, or total-length controls.

Selection

Captures and manages splines used by the tool.

Select

Captures the current spline selection and adds it to the working set.

Remove

Removes selected spline entries from the working set.

Clear List

Clears the working set and resets all adjustments.

Working Set List

Displays captured splines and their length information.

Displays live spline length information.

Working Set

Shows the total number of captured splines.

Active

Shows the currently selected spline count.

Original Length

Displays the original spline length.

Current Length

Displays the current preview length.

Delta

Displays the amount of length change.

Displays the target length when using Total mode.

Adjust

Controls how spline length is modified.

Mode

Selects the adjustment method.

• Start + End – Adjusts spline length independently from each end.
• Total – Specifies a target overall spline length.

Scope

Controls how adjustments are applied.

• Single – Applies adjustments only to selected splines.
• Linked – Applies adjustments across the selected group.

Start

Adds length to the start of the spline.

End

Adds length to the end of the spline.

Total

Defines the desired overall spline length.

Behaviour

Controls how new spline length is generated.

Launch

Selects the extension direction.

Selects the extension type.

• Curve Approx

Turn

Controls directional continuation.

• Sampled

Steps

Defines the number of interpolation steps used when generating curves.

Bend

Controls curve strength when using curve generation.

Samples

Defines the number of spline samples used for sampled turn calculations.

Apply Current

Commits the current preview adjustments to the spline.

Typical Workflows

Refine Spline Length

1. Select one or more splines.
2. Click Select.
3. Choose Start + End mode.
4. Enter a value in Start or End.
5. Review the preview result.
6. Click Apply Current.

Create Smooth Length Extensions

1. Capture the spline.
2. Set Launch to Tangent.
3. Set Add As to Curve Approx.
4. Adjust Steps and Bend as required.
5. Apply the result.

Troubleshooting

The tool is disabled

Ensure you are logged into the SiNi Desipher Licence Manager and have a valid licence.

No splines appear in the working set

Only spline objects can be captured. Select valid spline objects before clicking Select.

Total mode is unavailable

Switch Mode from Start + End to Total.

Curve controls are unavailable

Some behaviour controls only become active when curve-based extension options are selected.

Length values do not update

Select an active spline from the working set and adjust the Start, End, or Total values.
