Description
Break Apart separates large attached mesh objects into smaller chunks using one or more staged processing passes.
The tool is designed for heavy architectural visualisation scenes where large masterplan meshes can become difficult to manage.
On massive scenes, such as a city 3d model, use Break Apart to split the model into chunks and then do a final Element Explode on these smaller chunks using the SiNi Sculpt – Explode Elements tool.

Rollout Reference

Configures staged geometry chunking and output generation.
Passes
Defines how many chunking stages are applied to the selected geometry.
Pass 1–5
Selects the chunk count for each processing pass:
- 2 Chunks
- 4 Chunks
- 8 Chunks
Add Pass (+)
Adds an additional chunking stage.
Remove Pass (-)
Removes the selected chunking stage.
Analyse
Inspects the selected object and reports element information before processing.
Prefix
Defines the naming prefix used for generated output objects.
Center Pivots
Moves generated object pivots to the centre of each output object’s bounding box.
Break Apart
Processes the selected geometry using the configured pass structure.
Typical Workflows

Split a Large Masterplan
- Select the attached masterplan object.
- Click Analyse to review the geometry.
- Configure one or more chunking passes.
- Set an output prefix.
- Enable Center Pivots if required.
- Click Break Apart.
- Review each checkpoint and continue until processing is complete.
Create Progressive Chunk Stages

- Select a large attached mesh.
- Add multiple passes.
- Use 4 or 8 chunk passes for large datasets.
- Review each stage using the checkpoint dialogues.
- Choose whether to preserve the previous pass geometry.
- Continue until the desired chunk size is reached.
Troubleshooting
The Break Apart button is disabled.
Verify that a valid SiNi licence is active in the Desipher Licence Manager.
No geometry is created.
Ensure an object is selected and contains valid mesh elements.
The operation is slow on very large scenes.
Use additional chunking passes to reduce the amount of geometry processed per stage.
